How States and the FCT Voted for President Tinubu in the 2027 APC Presidential Primary

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded a sweeping victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary, securing almost 11 million votes across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to reports, Tinubu emerged as the APC presidential candidate for the 2027 general election after defeating his challenger, Stanley Osifo, in the party’s direct primary election. Channels Television reported that Tinubu polled 10,999,162 votes, while Osifo secured 16,503 votes. Other national outlets also reported that the President won the APC ticket with about 10.99 million votes.

From the state-by-state breakdown provided, Lagos delivered the highest number of votes for Tinubu with 814,988 votes, followed by Adamawa with 644,149 votes and Kaduna with 618,914 votes.

Imo came fourth with 582,960 votes, while Kano completed the top five with 500,852 votes. Together, these five states accounted for more than 3.1 million votes, showing the scale of Tinubu’s support across different regions of the country.

Other major contributors included Katsina with 467,003 votes, Gombe with 450,517 votes, Borno with 414,988 votes, Delta with 407,646 votes, Akwa Ibom with 389,197 votes, Enugu with 383,382 votes, and Benue with 374,787 votes.

The figures also showed strong numbers from several states in the South South, South East, North Central and North West, suggesting that Tinubu’s victory was not limited to one political region. States such as Ogun, Zamfara, Kwara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Rivers and Yobe also delivered significant votes.

At the lower end of the table, the Federal Capital Territory recorded 36,103 votes, Anambra had 43,034 votes, Ekiti had 85,340 votes, Osun had 100,888 votes, and Cross River recorded 113,911 votes.

The result gives Tinubu the APC ticket ahead of the 2027 presidential election and positions him for a second-term contest. Reuters also reported that the ruling party’s primary victory strengthened his position as the leading APC candidate heading into the general election.

However, a small note on the figures: the state-by-state numbers provided add up to 10,999,967, while some media reports put Tinubu’s official total at 10,999,162. For publication, it may be safer to write “about 10.99 million votes” unless you are using the party’s official certified result.
