Leaders and stakeholders of the PDP/APM in Surulere Local Government have reportedly rejected the chairmanship candidate allegedly presented by Hon Sunday Makanjuola Smato, Mr Gbolahan Alao.
At a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ogbomoso Grammar School yesterday Friday 14th August, 2026, the party Stakeholders unanimously expressed their opposition to the candidature of Mr Gbolahan Alao, insisting that Smato should choose between his ambition for the House of Representatives and the chairmanship position.
The stakeholders maintained that he cannot effectively pursue both positions at the same time and called on him to make a clear choice in the interest of the party and the people.
The development is expected to generate further political discussions within the local government as party leaders and stakeholders seek clarity and unity ahead of the forthcoming political contest.
