President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved 26 fresh appointments across 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, appointed Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency.
Fayose will head the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors.
The agency’s incumbent Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors will make up the remaining members of the board.
President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission, alongside eight other officials.
Former member of the House of Representatives from Lagos State, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the commission.
Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde, representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively, were appointed as commissioners.
Other members of the commission are Dr Mai Adamu Yau from Borno, Ginika Florence Tor from Enugu, Engineer Lawrence Okoh from Edo and Bello Morenike Iyabode from Kogi.
Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was previously appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, was reassigned as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
The President also appointed Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission and Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc.
Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government council chairman, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation in Kwara State.
He replaces Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
President Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman.
Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.
He replaces Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund in April.
The President also named Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director of Finance at the Federal Housing Authority.
Iorja replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned from the position to contest the governorship election in Benue State.
He is an economist, legal scholar and academic currently serving as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, all the appointments take immediate effect.
